Production Project - Documentary Proposal

For the Production Project module, I decided to do a documentary as i love factual documentaries; i feel like you learn a lot from them. I want my documentary to send a message to the audience and be quite hard hitting.
I chose to focus my documentary on the topic of the RSPCA recently becoming more political instead of putting money into their shelters that are in desperate need. I wanted to do it on this not only because it is a current affair but also to make people, especially animal lovers aware of what is going on within the charity.

It was recently leaked by a member of the RSPCA that they were investing thousands into court cases on the badger cull and fox hunting and not putting money into the welfare of the animals, especially when many of their shelters are struggling due to lack of funding.
I wanted to get this message across because it is very important as it will eventually lead to independent animal homes becoming full and being put under strain because of this. Many RSPCA shelters will close down in the future because of lack of money, which not only means the strain on other shelters and charities but also many animals will have to be put down.
Another message I want to get across is to people that are currently or in the future considering getting a pet. Instead of going to a breeder, go to an animal shelter instead to re-home an animal. More people doing this could help save these shelters from being over crowded and also having to put innocent and healthy animals down.
To achieve this, i have a list of people I am scheduled to interview. These include; employees from the RSPCA, Liverpool's local MP, volunteers are the RSPCA and owners of other independent animal shelters.

For my documentary, my aim is to get the real facts and figures on unwanted and homeless animals of today and find out what the plan is for the future to change this and to also find out the future of the RSPCA.
