However in this lecture we were going to make a short story by having 3 videos or stills on the screen at once. In the lecture we instantly got stuck into making our own Triptychs. Can’t say I have ever heard of this term before, however it was a very interesting lesson after I finally researched what it was. We were shown various videos of some Triptychs to gather inspiration for our own. Natasha, Carlie and I decided to go to the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Anglican Cathedral as we found the visuals were very strong because of all the striking colours from the stained glass windows and also the contrast between both Cathedrals. We filmed our feet walking up the steps towards the doors of the Cathedral for the middle panel and then for the other 2 either side we used still images of each Cathedral.
At first we found that working on After Effects was a challenge as I had filmed half of the footage on my IPhone and Carlie had also filmed on her phone and for some reason the software would not let us render the work because of this. It took us a while to figure the problem out and it was a very lengthy and frustrating process. As time was getting on towards the deadline, we decided to get rid of the footage that Carlie had filmed as it was nice captured as strongly as the footage that I had taken, therefore it meant that the software could render just my footage. This cut our Triptych a little short; however I was pleased with the result and would definitely like to do it again in the future for another project as I feel it could work out really well if there is a good story behind it if there was no deadline, I could spend hours on it!
