Sound Assignment
In the lecture to introducing us to sounds, we first did a quick quiz. Ian played 12 sort clips from film soundtracks to see how many we could recognise. Ian did this to get us to recognise how important sound is during films because it creates the atmosphere and states the genre of the film. We then got showed the trailor of The Shining but with a voice over and soft music which made it become a completely different film. It was really interesting to see just how important music and sound is. The three essential ingridents are; the human voice- tells a story, music-adds emotion and sound effect-syncronised sounds. Our assignment set is to find a visual from youtube, or to record our own for no longer than two minutes and add our own sound over the top. Me and Jodie have decided to get a clip of some cats running around and we are going to add a comic voice over the top to make them sound as if they are speaking, our inspiration came from the show You've been Framed. We think this will work as its funny and easy to do for our first practice. I am looking forward to learning more about this because it will help when it comes to editing and knowing what works and what doesn't.
