TV Studio Production

Cross Shooting

During TV Studio time we had a cross shooting workshop where we learned how to get the camera's on the right person during an interview. Alex made sure that we understood why we cross shoot and what difference it makes to the interview on how the camera's are positioned. We shuffled the 3 cameras around and we came to the the reasons why we focus which camera on who. So we decided the middle camera which is camera 2, should have a medium wide shot of everyone involved, so the presenter and the guest. Camera 1 will be pointing diagonally opposite to the presenter and the same for camera 3, on the guest. We worked out that this works a lot better because say if camera 3 was focussed on the presenter we would end up getting a shot of the presenters profile which looks odd to an audience, we want to see the whole of her face thats why camera 1 is much better to be focussing on the presenter as it is in her eyeline. This is a major factor during interviews because we want to get the best shots as possible, especially if the guest is important.
