Morvern Callar

During our Film Studies lesson we watched a low budget British film called Morvern Caller. Set in a small part of Scotland, Samantha Morton who plays Morvern discovers on christmas day that her boyfriend has commited suicide and she takes over the Novel he has been writing. Callar goes to Ibiza where she sells it as her own.  British films being my favourite, I thoroughly enjoyed this dark and emotional film. At some points it was very strange and harrowing. It involved a lot of drug taking and it was quite uncomfortable to watch, especially when she was stood in the bathroom wearing just her knickers cutting up her boyfriend so she could bury him. I was not quite sure the directors purpose of the film, but it gave a deep insight into Morvern's life which the audience became intersted in and was keen to know what she would get up to next. Not your average persons life; it was comforting to know that this film wasn't real.
